We needed a "turn-around artist", and we found one in Monika Jansen! After (too) many years of doing our own arts management and fund raising, Monika Jansen's support, creativity and organizational skills are leading us to a level we never expected. More than her skills, she has given the Guild a self-esteem we needed and a pride in our mission.

About

Monika
Monika Jansen, Principal of Jansen Communications

Monika officially launched Jansen Communications, a marketing writing and editing company, in 2009 to focus on creating fresh, to-the-point copy that is aligned with an organization’s overall marketing strategy, attracts new customers, and positions her clients as experts in their industry.

She really loves to write and edit, and she has over 10 years of marketing and corporate communications experience at companies as varied as a high-tech start-up (which survived the dot com bubble—yay!—but sadly no longer exists), a chef/hospitality placement company, and an international museum and arts consulting non-profit.

When she is not hunched over her laptop, she hangs out with her husband and kids, sits on the beach with a good book during the summer months, snowboards during the winter months, cooks, drinks wine, travels, and laughs as much as possible.

Meg Rayford, Marketing/Social Media Intern

Meg Rayford is currently pursuing an MBA, where she is focusing on the integration of social media in marketing and public relations strategies. She has created, implemented, and managed social media strategies at nonprofit startups, such as A Drink for Tomorrow and Unitechange.org, and she helped the Solar Electric Light Fund win an Ashoka's Changemakers grant competition with her social media skills. She also has written blogs and marketing materials for several Northern Virginia wineries as well as nonprofit organizations.

Meg is a member of Delta Gamma Sorority, and she serves on alumna committees in Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia. When she is not busy with school, work, and volunteer engagements, Meg enjoys spending time outdoors and exploring D.C. with her husband.
